Hi there!
My name is Toby and I am a passionate and experienced running coach dedicated to helping runners achieve their running goals. With a deep-rooted love for distance running and a wealth of knowledge, I bring a blend of expertise and enthusiasm to my sessions and training plans.
I created Running H.I to bring to life a training environment which I felt was missing when searching for my own club/group to join. My philosophy is that runners who enjoy training and can minimise injury are more diligent and consistent with training: therefore they can make more progress! The setup I have created revolves around: fun, inclusive and varied run sessions to improve running performance; and strength, mobility and preparatory work to prepare the body for the demands of running.
I hold a degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Bath in which I completed my dissertation in mid-race fuelling for distance sports. I also possess my Coaching in Running Fitness qualification (CiRF) and have been a qualified teacher (with PE specialism) for the past ten years. I am also currently completing my Event Group qualification in Endurance with UK Athletics. With my academic foundation, training, experience as a teacher and continued professional development, I combine proven methods with an element of fun and variety to keep my runners engaged with their training plans.
As a self-confessed run-addict, I have completed events across a range of distances, recently lowering my marathon PB by over twenty minutes. If you are looking for straight-forward methods to put into practice to improve your running, you have come to the right place.
I understand that every runner is unique, therefore I feel it is important to tailor your running plans to your: ability, lifestyle, family and work commitments. Whether you're a beginner aiming for your first 5K or a seasoned marathoner targeting a new personal best, I am here to support you.
Join me, and let's 'hone in your PB'.
Toby
